I took the test regarding my personal feelings about homosexuality/homosexuals. I wasn't surprised to learn that I am more comfortable around heterosexuals than I am around homosexuals. That being said, I don't want anyone to think that I am totally homophobic, or anything like that; my brother came out of the closet about six or seven years ago, and we interact as much as we ever did.
ReplyDeleteThe test was interesting, but not surprising.
I took the test regarding male to science and female to liberal arts comparison. I think that if they had done the presented order opposite my results would have differed, because I learned the keys, but probably not too much. Anyway, my test results came out that I had a moderate association with males to science and females to liberal arts. It was unsurprising to me that I tested into the most common group because we are socialized to believe these associations. Not that I tried to conform to this, but when choosing my major I was deciding between Social Work and Aeronautical Engineering, and I chose Social Work. I chose it because its more interesting to me. As much as I would love to be and engineer, and as good as I think I would be at it, sociology is just more interesting to me. I think thats where these associations come from. Boys are more interested in complex things they can design, take apart, and put together. Whereas girls are more interested in why things happen in society.
ReplyDeleteI took the test regarding "Weapons." It says that I agree that Blacks are more likely to have weapons compared to Whites. I guess this is sort of true just because most of the crimes that is in the media has to deal with Blacks and some sort of weapon. I know that both Black and Whites are almost equal to have weapons. I was pretty surprised with the result.
ReplyDeleteI as well took the test regarding weapons, and i had the same results as kevin saying that i agree that black people are more likely to have weapons compared to white people. I didnt really understand what kind of a result would accure by choosing sides and how that would determine what would be the outcome of my score. But i guess because of how the media and movies portray black people as being the bad guys sometimes that influenced my result.
ReplyDeleteI also took the "Weapon" test for this assignment and found out that I expect African Americans to have some dangerous weapon than a white person. I think the reason why I think this way is because I am influenced by movies that portrays African Americans as gangbangers. I can't imagine how African Americans feel when there are people like me think like this of them.
ReplyDeleteWell I decided to take the age test. It turns out that I have a moderate automatic preference to young people than old. I am really not sure what to make of that. Maybe it's because I don't hang around with old people or something? I do not know. I don't think i have a preference really. I will say that I treat an older person differently but it's not any less than how i would treat a younger person. I guess I was a little bit surprised by the results.
ReplyDeletei took the age test as well. the result was i have a slight automatic preference to young people than old. i dont think the test was telling the truth about my preference to young and old people.i totally dont feel that way. i am definitely comfortable being around young or old aged people. i guess i am not suprised it came out that way because i made quite mistakes when taking the test. after all, the test was fun.
ReplyDeleteI took the Black/White/Obama/McCain test. The results were that I had a slight preference for white people over black people, but a strong preference for Obama over McCain. I've taken other versions of those tests before, and was never very impressed. I'm not so sure about the black/white results, but it's certainly correct that I prefer Obama over McCain. I didn't need a test to tell me that.
ReplyDeleteI took the age test: the Young - Old IAT. My results were that i have a strong automatic preference for Young people compared to Old people. I thought it was a really weird way of testing someone, and i don't really know if the results come out to be true for everyone. Regardless, the results were true for me! I know its kinda sad, but i don't really like to be around old people too much. I strongly prefer the young people. The test was pretty annoying and i though it was pointless, but it ended up with true results, so that was pretty cool. =]
ReplyDeleteI took the Race IAT test. My results were that I have a moderate automatic preference for African American compared to European American. Personally I think this test is pretty accurate, but not because of my how African Americans are shown by the media. For some reason I've always had a attraction to the the unique and interesting African culture, therefore I suppose that is why I like African Americans a bit more than European Americans. This test wasn't that annoying, probably because I wasn't upset by my results but my eyes to hurt from staring at the screen.
