  1. In my opinion the authors primary obligation was to see this man, the emigrant from the south, receive medical attention for his diabetic condition. I don't think it would have mattered to me that the Soyapango native got into the United States; The most important thing is that he received medical attention.I think if I was the author I would have done as he did.

  2. Putting my self in the author's shoes and seeing that this man needed help, I would of given him all the help that I could offer. Considering the risks of helping an illegal is very harsh, but a life is more important to me than the punishment. I would have never turned him in to the BP, if anything I would have let him out of the truck.

  3. Well, first of all, I must admit that the author's rather extensive metaphorical introduction when I was sleepy did not exactly put me in the most helpful of moods. The result would likely have been the same as the authors, however I would have reached that decision significantly more quickly. Given my experiences, my sympathy has been coarsened for such situations.

  4. If I was in the author's shoes I probably would have done something very similar. I am very sympathetic towards people who are ill, so I would have taken Victor as long as he was showing signs that he needed immediate medical attention. However, I do not support illegal immigration so as soon as it was clear that he would be ok, I would have turned him in.

  5. I would have helped out as much as I could. Illegal immigration makes no difference to me. I don't necessarily condone it, but being an illegal alien does not make someone less of a person than an actual citizen. So I would have gotten him the best help possible and then sent him on his way. I also have to FERVENTLY disagree with Charisse. How heartless! Not that I'm singling her out or anything, but why would you help someone, only to turn around and stab them in the back? You might as well not bother at all! Personally, I wouldn't want help from anyone who was just going to turn around and hurt me after helping me. How cold; imagine if you were Victor.

  6. I think if I was in the author's shoes I would have done the same. Although the guy was an illegal immigrant, I would still make sure he got the help that he needed. I mean I don't think anyone should treat someone that is in such a harsh condition differently just because they are an illegal immigrant. They are still are alive and deserve fair medical treatment. Then after helping him, I would leave him be.

  7. Welp I think that if I were there and that happened to me that I would do the same thing the author did. I think that just because a person is not a citizen doesn’t mean that they shouldn’t be treated like a human. If the person really needed the help I would help. I agree with what the author says at the end about the thought comforting him and not comforting him. I would feel the same.

  8. After reading the article if i were put in the situation like the author was, i would have done the same thing. although victor was an illegal immigrant, but he is a person after all. he was mentioned in the article being a stage of exhaustion. he needed aids therefore i would help him if i was there. its just part of human nature that most people would have done the same thing in that kind of situation.

  9. If i were in the authors shoes i would have done the same thing. Just because he was an illegal immigrant makes no difference. What if you were the illegal immigrant and you needed help. Wouldnt you want someone to help you? After helping him i would let him continue and not turn him in.

  10. It's kind of a tough situation to be in. Things can go either way. Either you can help someone or you put your rights at risk. If I were in the shoes of the author, I would only help them to some extent and not risk getting in trouble with the government. Even though it's hard seeing someone like this, you also have to look out for yourself. If your going to help them and then call the BP on them, then why bother even helping in the first place. This is one tough situation to be in.

  11. i agree with kevin, although it is a tough spot to be in, i wound not hesitate to help out another person out, especially in a matter of life and death. I consider it human nature to want to help out this diabetic illegal alien in need. If i were to witness someone get in for example, a horrible car accident, i would drop what im doing to get this person in need the help they need. Look at how our nation responed to the 9/11/01 attack! Fire fighters died as they saved hundreds of victims they've never even met! why? Its the right thing to do. I would do as the other and do the best i can to get victor on his 100 mile route.
